The Beer Bar
Trappistes Rochefort 6, Bottle, 330ML.
Rochefort produces a total of 3 beers, of which Rochefort 6 is the oldest, and therefore the original Rochefort recipe is the basis for this beer. Rochefort 6 is not as well known as the other two beers in the series (8 and 10). This may be because it is only brewed twice a year, and therefore it can be difficult to obtain at times. This must be combined with the fact that it only amounts to approx. 5% of total production. The aroma is sweet and fruity, but perhaps with a predominance of raisins. The color is burgundy, and the foam is nicely cracked white, but does not last as long as at Rochefort 8 and 10. The taste is relatively mild with all the familiar licorice and fruity nuances that characterize all three beers from the convent. Reportedly, it is the monks' own favorite beer, and it is certainly a beer one should taste.
